CHARACTERS What species of character can I play? Can I have a carapace, a human, a troll or an original alien? All of these are acceptable! Play anything you like, so long as it’s a fleshed-out character. What sort of character can I play? You can play any canon, alternate universe or entirely original character as long as they come from a sburb session and aren’t based off another canon ie. No Lion King characters. Just remember, you need an original character after every two canon-based characters you apply for! What sort of AUs can I have? Doomed session timelines (the characters taken from a failed sburb timeline) Family swaps (Jade Lalonde, Dave Harley, Mom Egbert, Dad Strider etc. Extends to trolls with different lusus!) Blood swaps (wherein trolls are different colors than the original) Hemospectrum swaps (red now has the status of purple) Ancestor/Descendent swap (what if the original Scratch never happened?) Species swaps (Troll Jade Harley and Human Karkat Vantas? Sure!) Gender swaps (the same characters are a different gender from the originals) --is a short list of acceptable AUs! If there's something not here, but it's AU from the canon and obeys the rules, go ahead! Make sure to put a lot of thought into how the changes will have affected the character’s personality, history and speech quirk. We won’t be accepting whacky gag versions, only serious attempts! Also, you need an original character for every two AU characters you apply for. But my blood swap idea is already in the game! That’s okay, we allow multiples of the same blood swap as long as there is no plagiarism! The canon character I was going to apply for is already in the game! That's okay, we allow multiples of the same canon character as long as there is no plagiarism! Can I play an ancestor, guardian, or pre-Scratch troll? Yes, as long as they’re alternate from canon, and they come from a universe that revolves around SBURB. Can I have a AU of a character from another canon? Say, Troll Harry Potter? No! You can only have AUs of Homestuck characters. What universe can my character come from? Any original or Homestuck alternate universe, as long as the universe has Homestuck mechanics like Strife Specibus, and the character comes from a SBURB session. Do I have to stick to canon blood colors for my fantroll? No! We think an extended color range is more fun as long as you don't go above Feferi’s tyrian purple/magenta. You are still welcome to stick to the canon colors if you wish. However, justification for trolls of the same blood as Feferi will be heavily scrutinised and Karkat's mutant red even more so. Remember Karkat's survival was due to a conspiracy. Mutant bloods do not get lusus custodians, or symbols, and they are first on the culling block in troll society. You will need very good explanations for why your character is either of these shades, given Feferi's status as rare automatic empress-to-be and the difficulty of a mutant surviving. Can I play a character created by someone else? As long as you have their permission. Can I play from an alternate universe created by someone else? As long as you have the creator’s permission. What sort of session can my character come from? Any session is fine! Size, whether it’s a successful or failed session, the alpha timeline or doomed timelines, and anything else don’t matter as long as it’s recognisably a version of SBURB. Can I bring in a character from before they enter SBURB or after their session? The glitch specifically brings in players that have already begun their session and are within the Medium, so characters may only be apped at any point from the duration of their session, from entering the Medium to receiving the Ultimate Reward. Can I apply together with friends with characters from one session? Can I apply into the same session as a character already in the game? Of course! But if you’re apping into a session already in the game, you should talk to the players already in that session first and get their permission. Can I use a SBURB title and SBURB powers? Can I be the Heir of Blood or whatever? Yes! Can I have a made-up SBURB title (Knight of Cat, for example)? Yes! Also, following the {class} of {aspect} format, the {class} part of the title can be multi-syllablic while the {aspect} must be monosyllabic. Duchess of Cat is fine, Duchess of Kitties is not! Can I make up powers? Yes, as appropriate to your title. However, we can and will veto powers that are too powerful. No breaking the game. Powers that will be vetoed include: if your power means you automatically win against another player if your power means you can win the SBURB session single-handedly powers that allow you to change universes or see through the fourth/fifth wall to other sessions outside your universe's session I’m applying for a canon character, but I don’t know what my sburb abilities are! Feel free to make something up, as long as it adheres to the power rules of the game! If you end up being wrong, you can claim it was a side-effect of the glitch. Do canon characters have to drop down to the start of their echeladder and lose their end-game weapons? Yes, they do. All characters entering paradoxstuck are glitched to their weakest echeladder levels and lose their weapons, for now! If you don’t know what your character’s weaker abilities are, feel free to make something up. Can I bring in dimension-shifting abilities or devices? No, as the ability to shift out of the universe's session would immediately end the game. Even the knowledge of how to build them would end the plot. The glitch at present cannot be stopped, and the failed session cannot be escaped. Can I bring my SBURB Land into the session? No, the only available SBURB planets are Derse, Prospit and the original session’s six planets. Can I apply for an original/AU with god tier? No. Right now god-tier is too powerful to be allowed. All characters must be bought down to the lowest rungs of their echeladder, but there may be plot later to allow characters to earn god-tier. But this character has canonical god-tiering! They’ll lose their god tier abilities due to the glitch, and like all characters be reduced to the start of their echeladder. You may keep the snazzy outfit, though. How many characters can I play? Six. You can have two AUs/CANON characters for each OC you play. So you can have three OCs and three AUs, or two OCs and four CANONs, and so forth. Can I play only original characters? If you want!

SETTING So what’s with this session? This session, unfortunately, is a null session from a doomed timeline. The Space player was killed before the game could be completed. The players, in an attempt to avoid their doom, began drawing in people from other sessions. And unbeknownst to those in the game, this is all part of a doomed timeline - paradox space is going to be trying its hardest to kill everyone. What sort of events will this game have? As said above, this is a doomed timeline. Paradox space will be trying to kill everyone there, and as a result, there will be many events, most of which will be apocalyptic! But it’s not necessarily terrible - by entering into the new game, one’s dreamself is placed on Derse or Prospit, even if in the previous session it had been killed. So each character may survive one death (with the possible exception of original players). What locations are available? Prospit, Derse and the six planets belonging to the original players. Skaia is currently unavailable. What Land do I land on when I arrive? Whichever Land you please out of the original six. However, parts of events may be taking place in different Lands so it would be in your interests to spread out. How can my character get to other Lands? For the time being, travel between the Lands is only available via the Gates above the original players’ homes.

PLAYING Where do I post to? For IC posts: the paradoxspace community. For OOC posts: the ooc_paradox community. For misc. posts such as memes, music, art and other non-serious things: the kidsandfun community. What can I post? Memos, pesterlogs, or physical interaction, it doesn’t matter as long as it adheres to the setting. Can I include images in my post/comments? Yes! However we must ask that you refrain from posting or linking anything that would fall under Not Safe For Work. This includes any sexual (especially underaged material) or particularly violent or otherwise controversial content. Ask yourself: would you or anyone else be comfortable to have your family walk in on you looking at it? Be seen looking at in public? If not, then it’s NSFW. Can I bring in my own consorts and imps? Yes, just fill out the right section on the applications. You can make pet accounts for the consorts, although they should only be bought up as a supplement to your characters activities where needed! The imps may be used by the moderators as enemies. What happens if my character dies in game? Your character wakes up on Derse or Prospit! If they don't have a dreamself, then the glitch brings them back in from their dead bubble... But the way back involves a lot of horrorterror interaction! Your character might get a little traumatized on the way back, it's up to player preference how badly. What if my character is psychotic and violent? That's fine, but you'll have to talk to the players of anyone you attack! Before you start trying to attack them. Can I play a racist/blood-caste loving troll? By all means! But as above, if your troll is going to attack others, you'll need to talk players before attacking them. I want to play a [Something] of Time]! How do I do time travel and time clones? Due to the glitch, no one can go back in time to prevent the glitch ever happening, but basic time travel (including time clones) is allowed in the game! Just remember the clones will die (sooner rather than later) or "merge" if you complete the timeloop. Will the glitch affect my character’s powers? There may be glitch events in the future where characters' powers may be affected, but you'll have to wait for that in-game. You may choose to have the glitch affect your character's power in your application, allowing you to apply for a character whose power was extremely powerful in its own verse, but does not break the power-limiting rules of this game.

MECHANICS Do I have to use the font coding? You have to use a hex code color for memos and online interactions. We're flexible on the strong courier font, and you can use it or leave it as you will. We have a copy+paste form for easy bulletins, memos and actions! Do I have to use second person narration for action? Yes! We only have second person narration. You may frame it like *this* or [this] but only Homestuck-style second narration is allowed for actions. I want to roleplay over Pesterchum and post the logs! You can do that, as long as you correctly format it for LJ. Post the logs in paradoxspace with an LJ-cut noting it's a pesterchum log and the tag *IM! What do the tags mean, and which do I have to use? You have to use three tags: Your character's tag, the land tag, and the post tag. Your character's tag will be made by the moderators when you're accepted- If you don't have one, feel free to play anyway while they get to it. Character tag: character name [player name] Land tag: *derse, *prospit, *land of SO and SO, etc. This is whatever character your land is on when they make the post. You can land-hop mid thread if you'd like. Post tag: *Action, for in person, face to face interactions. *Memo for any online interactions, *IM for logs and one-on-one posts. You can use a mix of these if necessary! I'm a Guardian/Ancestor/caparace, can I talk? For ease of roleplaying, you can! What sort of PB can I use? Any! Live action, manga, anime, or anything else. For trolls, you can photoshop the PBs if you’d like, and there are people who can help you if you need it. Or you can draw your own icons, if you’re so inclined. Can I link to my application in the application post rather than commenting with the whole thing? Go ahead! Just make sure we can access the application wherever it is hosted. Can I change the formatting of the app? You may change the format or rearrange some of the sections if you so wish. However, you must not remove or leave out any sections unless it is optional. Can I reuse sections of applications I’ve done to other games? It’s fine to reuse history, personality and other sections as long as it meets the unique paradoxspace requirements, including word counts and sample formatting! Do I need an account just for my character? Yes! This account can be used in as many games as you want, but it needs to be an account solely for your character and it is mandatory to use it in the game for all in character activities!
